Abstract:

This paper investigates whether Meta AI is able to identify, analyze, and interpret metonymy found in political texts about the Trump administration published in The Guardian in the period 1.7.- 5.7.2025. It also considers whether Meta AI possesses the capacity to analyse creative political texts that reflect the conventional style of The Guardian’s political discourse. This study suggests that Meta AI holds significant potential as a tool for linguistic analysis. Nonetheless, it requires targeted adaptations in order to fully address the complexities of metonymies in language within specific contexts
